Malaysia - ST CoA
Introduction:
ST CoA(Certification of Approvals) is a mandatory security certification controlled by the Ministry of Energy of Malaysia (ST, Suruhanjaya Tenaga). ST implements the conformity certification system for electrical and electronic products in accordance with the Electrical Equipment Supply Act (1990) and the Electrical Equipment Code Management Regulations (1994), and controlled products must obtain the Conformity certification (CoA) before entering the Malaysian market.
Malaysia's national Standard is MS(Malaysia Standard) standard, and the MS standard for product safety certification basically adopts the same national IEC standard.
Type of Certification:
CoA is a customs clearance certificate, importers can buy the MS label from SIRIM per batch after the product enters the customs.
If manufacture wants to attach the compliance mark in the factory directly, they can apply for SIRIM factory inspection as well.

Malaysia - MCMC/SIRIM
Introduction:
With the birth and explosion of a new convergent communications and multimedia industry in Malaysia in the mid 1990s, a new paradigm requiring new approaches in media policies and regulation became a necessity. In line with this, Malaysia adopted a convergence regulation model with regards to the communications and multimedia industry in November 1998.
Two legislations were enacted to give effect to the new regulatory model: the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 which set out a new regulatory licensing framework for the industry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act (1998) which created a new regulatory body, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd (SIRIM) is the only certification body approved in Malaysia. All electronic products entering Malaysia need to apply for SIRIM certification.
Type of Certification:
There are two types of equipment certification:
- Type Approval: Consumer electronics wireless products
- Special approval: Only for special purposes such as exhibition, research and development, personal or corporate use.
