Introduction:

BIS means The National Standards Body of India. 

BIS develop & publish Indian Standards, Implement Conformity Assessment Schemes, Recognise & run laboratories for Conformity Assessment, Implement Hallmarking, Work for Consumer empowerment, Conduct capacity building programs on quality assurance and represent the country in ISO & IEC.

BIS controls safety portion only. 

Up to now, a total of 3 batches and 46 products have been included in the mandatory catalogue, including laptop, microwave oven, printer, power adaptor etc.

India - WPC

Intoduction:

India's Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing (WPC) is the body that regulates wireless regulations in India, and all wireless products must be approved by WPC before entering the market. There are two categories of spectrum in India: free and closed. For the free open frequency band, such Equipment only needs to apply for an ETA (Equipment Type Approval) certificate; Other frequency bands that are not freely available require a license. The holder of both the ETA and the license must be a locally registered company. Based on CE R & TTE or FCC ID (Indian local standard), 2G/3G/4G requires mobile operators to apply.

Type of Certificate:

Wireless certification in India can be divided into

  • ETA (Equipment Type of Approval) certification: For free and open frequency bands such as 13.56MHz, 433MHz, 2.4GHz, 5.725-5.825GHz
  • License license: If the device uses other non-free open frequency bands, such as GSM, WCDMA mobile phones, you need to apply for a license.
