«Haven» is a series of sculptures depicting sleeping people. The sculptures are made of white plaster, a traditional sculptural material. The sculptures are partially covered with sand. Sand is a metaphor for memory, time, events, shelter and haven. We live in very difficult and unstable times. Sometimes it is not clear what to do or how to act. We want to hide, to escape, to sink into a perfect world, to heal the wounds.
In a broader sense, wounds are a violation of harmony, of a primordial, perhaps illusory balance. But how long are we be allowed to be inside this haven? And is it heaven?
